Paid workers are needed to help protect the coast from the gulf oil spill, such as deploying oil boom and protective barriers. Some work may be off shore.
Workers also will be needed to clean up shoreline, structures, and assist wildlife damaged by oil.
Shore protection and oil spill clean up jobs will be offered to workers who Apply Online on this web site. Once registered, a worker will be notified of job opportunities that arise by email, access to private areas of this web site, or in some cases by phone, and can then decide whether to accept the job offered. A training program on oil spill response and clean up will be required of most workers.
Oil spill cleanup work may be within driving distance of a worker’s home, but if there is a shortage of workers living in an area needing help, then workers from other geographic areas will be brought in and will receive hotel accommodations and meal compensation.
The length of job opportunities will naturally depend upon the amount of work needed. Workers who become proficient in one geographic area may be invited to move to other areas as needed.
Jobs are being coordinated by Risk Management Disaster Services, a private contractor that provides clean up and recovery services to government during emergencies such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and disasters like the gulf oil spill.

I would really like to get a JOB to help clean this disaster. The images of the pollution to the ocean really upsets me, as I am a coastal person. We all need to work together right now, instead of pointing the finger. Let’s clean up the mess first. My brother-in-law and I went to a company today to apply and were turned away because they stated that the Oil Company only wants locals to work the clean up. I know that they will need help. I am motivated and ready to protect our shorelines. No wife, children to worry about, I can go anywhere that I am needed.
I am a 30 year hand at truck driving. I have my CDL, Tanker/Hazemat and Twic card. I have had my own company with 5 trucks with stepdecks to hauling fuel. My wife and I have a place to stay if needed. We could leave when called. I am currently laid off and would love the experience.

I am retired at 45 and was supervisor from Facilities management for a power company in Orlando Florida. I have knowledge of pumps, heavy equipment, boats while repairing or building bridges on rivers for transmission lines, heavy crane operation, supervisor skills for twelve years, I want to volunteer for this work in order to help clean up our eco system.

I grew up on the bayou I know all the marshlands animals well.and how to safely catch them from allagators,raccoons,snakes,otters,beavers,and all wetland birds. I was at mote marine in sarasota Fl. I also worked at a wildlife big cat rescue in lake city Fl.

As I mentioned in my application, I have lorries with high pressure jetters and vacuum pumps ready to go, as well as experience in dealing with oil spills as I was contracted out for the Sea Empress disaster in Milford Haven in the late 1990’s.
